Chaplain's Corner - March 2014

Easter (April 20) is the High Holy Day for Christians to remember the agony and suffering of Christ’s Crucifixion on the Cross, and to celebrate the joy and wonder of Christ’s Resurrection from death to life. Christians believe that God, in His great love for us, sent Him from heaven to earth to be the perfect sacrifice to pay the penalty for all of our past, present, and future sins. This was done for us in order to be reconciled with God through faith in Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord.

When we believe in our hearts that God raised Jesus from the dead, and recognize our need and accept God’s offer of forgiveness and reconciliation with Him, we will be saved. In addition, we receive the promise of eternal life and the gift of the Holy Spirit to guide us in this life until Christ returns or we are called to our home in heaven. These are the reasons we remember Crucifixion and the Resurrection. Celebrate the resurrection of our risen Savior with words in Psalm 34:1, “I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.”

My Easter Prayer for you: "Our Father in heaven, bless us with a full understanding and acceptance of the meaning of Easter and bless us with your perfect peace that will enable us to love you with all of our hearts, mind, and soul. We thank you for the gift of our salvation and the promise of eternal life. We thank you for all of the blessings you freely give to us. I love you Lord and will always love you. In Jesus name I pray Amen."

Prayer for our Military: "O God, our heavenly Father, continue to bless our brave military men, women, and their families with the peace and love of your holy presence, and with your divine protection from all harm, until they are reunited with their loved ones. In Jesus name I pray. Amen."
