Chaplains Corner - July 2013

The Apostle Paul writes in I Corinthians 10:13, “”But remember that the temptations that come into your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will keep the temptations from becoming so strong that you can’t stand up against it. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you will not give in to it.”

We need to apply this biblical teaching to current events in the political scene that are confronting our country’s elderly, the military, the unemployed, and those millions of people who are spiritually, emotionally and financially overwhelmed due to the actions and words of our political leaders at all levels of our government. Instead of representing “We the People” with programs that unite the people, they represent their political ideology with a destructive addiction to the evil abuse of their corrupt power. Some say we brought this upon ourselves but letting these people nibble away at our freedoms while increasing their silent devastating power.

What can we do now? God is faithful and His Word can be trusted as revealed in the words of the Apostle Paul. God has provided us with the way out of our temptation to do nothing except to succumb and die painfully as a people and as a country. The way out consists of several action plans. We must pray to God to bless us with the wisdom and courage to choose the hard right rather than the easy wrong. We must choose to trust God and become politically active and participate in the political process with our financial support, by volunteering our time and energy, by using our votes and urging family, relatives, friends, neighbors, fellow Christians, fellow workers to vote and support those candidates who firmly agree with our principles and beliefs.

Now is the time to trust God’s way out of the temptation to do nothing and die painfully as a people and as a country. By trusting God’s way out, we will defeat the temptation, vote out the corrupt politicians, and reaffirm and restore our belief that in God we trust and that we are truly one nation under God, THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, with free and equal religious freedom for all. AMEN
