RIP Armando Canales, SGM (ret)

Special Forces Association Chapter XV President, Armando "Mando" Canales, SGM (ret) suffered a severe heart attack 30 October and subsequently passed. Mando Canales was scheduled to be inducted as a Distinguished Member of the Regiment (DMOR) tomorrow's Q Course graduation. This was a shock to all of us and completely unexpected. SGM Canales was a great friend to Chapter IX here in El Paso. God Speed brother Mando. Funeral Arrangements for SGM Armando A.   1. The greatest man second to my Daddy that I have EVER met!! The one person who truely believed in me and encouraged my military career guided me to make that decision for me and nobody else also becoming (which I will always remember) a Texas A&M Aggie..RIP SGM the students you taught will never forget the life lessons you taught us and the many special forces stories you told about Vietnam..Saddened I am so far away but know my thoughts and prayers are with your family...Heaven has truely gained a BAD ASS Green Beret!!!

  5. Farewell to our mighty bulldog ,fearless leader. You were more than just an instructor. You were a second father to me n all the olivares siblings in jrotc.   8. SMG Canales,I remember my idea of the standard Green Beret was someone I used to see in the movies.After I met you,there is not a day that goes by that you are the best example of what a friend/instuctor/Green Beret is supposed to be.

  11. There are many people that make a difference in our lives... and we are happy when someone we love has a mentor, someone to look up to that has "made it" and can show them the way. SMG Canales... may you rest in peace. Thank you for all the support and tough love you showed my brother and other cadets. They are missing you like a father.
