Chapter Meeting Notes - 20 October 2012

17th Annual Ralph Dominguez/Jerry Montoya Food Drive: Rod Raulston Chairman. Committee: Chuy, Bill, Tom, Debbie, Leo, Jerry, Fred, Vern, Steve and Butch. We will hold the competition again and make a donation to the winning classes from the schools that participate. We will support Chihuahita again this year. Last year we prepared 69 boxes including a ham in each one.

Junior Enlisted Center: Discussion about their need for used clothes. More next month. Isaac Camacho Head Start School: Everything is on track for donations from SFA 9. There are 125 students in the school. Any school supplies that you wish to donate please bring them to the meetings. Chapter is donating up to $100 per month as needs arise.

SFA National 2013 in San Antonio: Next year our close friends will be hosting the convention and we need to support them. We will sponsor a hole for their Golf Tournament and assist them where needed with manpower.

SFA 9 Christmas Party: Catered party scheduled at the VFW for Saturday, 15 December. Chairman Joe “China Boy” Lopez with assistance from Pablo Sanchez. 1800 social hour, 1900 presentation, 1945 dinner, entertainment by Tony Lara to follow.

USASMA SF Students: Party is on hold but there might be something combined with SFA 80 later in the year.

Korean War Association: Roy is recruiting – Anybody stationed in Korea from 1945 to present can join.

Operation Santa Clause: Donation requested of $1000; discussion to continue.

Wreaths Across America – Civil Air Patrol: Debbie Torres made a presentation at the meeting. The wreath laying ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, 15 December at the FT Bliss cemetery, 1000 hrs. Chapter will sponsor all SF and/or their spouses interned at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.

BSA Pack 58: Chapter will continue their annual sponsorship and pay the $30 charter fee. Pack requested that we store their pinewood derby track because of the transient nature of their leaders – approved.
