Chaplains Corner - December 2011

Christmas is a time to relive old memories and a time to create new memories. You have all been blessed with a Mom and a Dad, who loved you in such beautiful ways that you are filled with many wonderful memories of them. Then there are the brothers and sisters who showed their love for you as you grew up together. And there is you creating memories from interacting with them. Events like your first crush on your unknowing sweetheart, your own driver's license and your first date, and your first kiss, courting your future spouse, your years together raising a family, and then becoming grandparents - all beautiful memories.

Now, each day is filled with opportunities to create situations that will give you wonderful memories to remember in the years ahead when all you can do is remember your treasured memories. Most of all, there is the life-changing time when you accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and Lord, and enjoyed all of the wonderful things connected to your hometown church as you grew in faith walking in the footsteps of Jesus.

You remember the times when Jesus helped you get through a hard times. You remember how Jesus Christ came to free you from your sins and reconcile you to God, you can face each day knowing that God loved you, loves you, and will always love you. Christmas is the time to remember the birth of Jesus as a visible sign of God's forgiving love for you. It is a time to remember God's promise of eternal life with God and your Christian family and friends in heaven. Maybe it is time to renew your Christian faith or come to faith and enjoy God's forgiving love. May God shower you with His blessings throughout 2012, and beyond.
