Chapter Meeting Notes - 19 Nov 2011

Wreaths Across America. POC is Debbie Torres, Civil Air Patrol, wife of Chapter member Rolando Torres. Wreaths will arrive Saturday 10 Dec 2011 for subsequent placement. The Chapter is sponsoring all SF interned at FT Bliss National Cemetery.

Special Forces Pre-Mision Training Cell. Gordon Waugh (SGM, ret) is in charge of organizing a large exercise to take place Jan-Feb 2012, based in Dell City and they are looking for civilian role players. Contact the Chapter for more information.

Christmas Party: Chair Steve Franzoni, committee Chris Lewis and Samuel Morgan. Party is set for 17 December at Butterfield Trails. Chapter will pay for all members who attend, all guests are $30.

16th Annual Ralph Dominguez/Jerry Montoya Food Drive: Committee Chair Jerry Compos has to take a leave of absence, so President Pete is the POC. Committee is Pablo, Rod, Vern, Chuy, Aaron, Leo, Fred, Bill and Brian. We again will pay for another pizza party for each winning class from the schools that participate. Chapter voted to allow $1500 seed money for the project. Boxing party will be at Pete’s warehouse on Biggs Field Sunday, 18 December at 1300 hrs. Please plan to attend and clean out your pantry or solicit donations from your sources.

Installation of Chapter Officers: Officers elected will be installed for the next 2 years at the Annual Christmas Party.

Viet Nam Veterans Chapter: Tickets were sold for a spaghetti lunch fund raiser and several SFA 9 members attended on Saturday 5 November at the 82nd.

Special Olympics: Chapter 9 hosted a paint ball tournament on October 14th for the Special Olympics Region 19 in El Paso TX. Chapter members provided the food and cooking for the event and with the help of the Benavidez-Patterson 82nd Airborne chapter who loaned us their concession trailer we were able to raise over $1,500.00 for the region.

Border Patrol Special Operations Expo: It will be held at the Biggs Field Centennial 25-26 April – SOG MWR is host. Chapter voted to provide manpower and make it a fundraiser. Committee is Pete, Joe Lopez, Ike, Rolando, Chuck, Aaron and Steve.

San Antonio Silver Wings Ball: We have long supported this event and hopes are to have another good showing this year. Ike announced that it is $40 per person and we have to pay by 31 January to be eligible for the raffle. Event is Blazers and Berets or Tuxedo or Dress Blues or Business Dress.

SFA National Convention is the 60th Anniversary of SF.

USASMA Class 62 has 23 SF students this year. CSM Baer & Breck Zaiser from USASOC will be visiting the USASMA SF Students in early December.
